Orange Fiber x Ferragamo Capsule Collection
On the occasion of the 47th Earth Day , Ferragamo and Orange Fiber presented the first fashion collection made with fabrics obtained from the by-products of industrial processing of oranges.
Salvatore Ferragamo and Orange Fiber, a company that produces innovative eco-sustainable fabrics, will launch on April 22 the first fashion collection made with fabrics obtained from the by-products of the pressing of oranges.
A date specially chosen, an anniversary, that of Earth Day , which reminds us of the now prevailing need for environmental protection and the search for renewable sources in all production areas.
Consistent with its motto, Responsible Passion , Salvatore Ferragamo is the first brand to use the exclusive Orange Fiber fabric. By capturing the essence and expressive potential of the innovative fabric made from citrus fruits – a twill with a silky look and touch – Salvatore Ferragamo has created a fresh Capsule Collection , a tribute to Mediterranean creativity.
Currently, the garments of the Ferragamo Orange Fiber Collection are displayed in the windows of the main flagship stores of the Florentine brand in the world.
The Orange Fiber Capsule Collection is embellished with the original prints by Mario Trimarchi , architect and designer, Compasso d’Oro 2016, and his interpretation of the Mediterranean scenario. The innovative texture of Orange Fiber fabrics finds a perfect symbiosis with the dream world of the designer: lights and shadows, fragrant winds of orange blossoms that gently push floating clouds and dreamy images of bougainvillea. Real designer prints are born that give life to a collection made of essential cuts and lines on shirts, dresses, trousers and scarves, for a refined daily wear that combines naturalness and comfort.
Thanks to the Ferragamo Orange Fiber Collection, key concepts such as “sustainability” and “respect for the environment” are harmoniously combined with the design and excellence of Italian fashion, to give a new form and content to the concept of luxury.
Every year the orange pressing industry produces over 700,000 tons of processing by-product that must be disposed of, with high costs, both economic and environmental. The patent developed by Orange Fiber makes it possible to transform this processing residue into a quality fabric with a high content of technological innovation, without subtracting raw material from the food industry and using by-products otherwise destined for disposal.
Precisely for this reason, a year ago the young brand was awarded the first Global Change Award , an international award organized by the H&M Foundation , to select and accelerate innovations with the highest potential for transforming the fashion supply chain in a sustainable key.
The attention and appreciation on the part of the national and international fashion system continues to grow, as evidenced by the recent agreement that provides for the entry of Orange Fiber into the portfolio of FTL Venture Inc , the international venture capital fund founded by the icon of fashion, entrepreneur and fashion editor Miroslava Duma, to develop synergies between new technologies and sustainable innovations and encourage products and brands that respond to the new needs of fashion with a view to environmental and social sustainability. Miroslava Duma herself will sit on the company’s advisory board.
Love for the excellence of the territory, sustainability and cutting-edge production processes have given life to a new concept of luxury based on the innovation and quality of the Italian textile tradition: a virtuous model to be promoted and replicated to write an unprecedented future for fashion Made in Italy.
