Ferragamo Orange Fiber Collection 2017
From the love for innovation, design and Italian creativity, the Ferragamo Orange Fiber Collection was born in 2017, the first fashion collection made with citrus fabrics.
Consistent with its Responsible Passion motto, Salvatore Ferragamo was the first to grasp the essence and expressive potential of our fabrics, creating a fresh daily wear capsule collection enriched by the precious prints of the Italian designer Mario Trimarchi that celebrates Mediterranean creativity.
Presented on 22 April 2017, on the occasion of the 47th Earth Day, the collaboration with the Florentine maison represented Orange Fiber’s first big step in the international market of sustainable materials for fashion.
The collaboration with Salvatore Ferragamo continued giving life to a total look worn by the internationally renowned top model Karolina Kurkova at the 2017 Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italy.
In the splendid setting of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the model wore an exclusive dress made by the maison according to the rigorous criteria laid down in the guidelines of the “Manifesto for Sustainability” of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion. A dress embroidered with floral applications in silk organza (woven and printed with GOTS certified fibers, produced in accordance with organic farming criteria) and Orange Fiber citrus fabric. Even the matching accessories – the bag, a re-edition of a model from the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum collection and the “F” wedge sandals – were created for this event and were made with the innovative material.
Some iconic pieces of the Ferragamo Orange Fiber Collection have been included in the Sustainable Thinking exhibition at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Palazzo Spini Feroni in Florence, an exhibition project conceived by Stefania Ricci (Director of the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum and the Ferragamo Foundation) who intends to provide a contribution artistic-cultural on the theme of sustainability through a narrative path that winds through the pioneering intuitions of the founder of the maison Salvatore Ferragamo in research on natural, recycled and innovative materials, and the most recent experiments in the green field. In 2021 Sustainable Thinking becomes an innovative digital platform that connects the brand’s responsible projects and activities by offering thematic insights that embrace sustainable thinking at 360 degrees.
