Orange Fiber at the Compasso d’Oro Finals

We are happy to announce that our Orange Fiber has been awarded by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory with the 2015 Innovation Award and is competing in the final of the XXIV edition of the 2016 Compasso d’Oro Award!

Thanks to the research and dedication of our Adriana Santanocito – CEO and founder of Orange Fiber – and to the study and visual design of the young and talented Sicilian designer Omar Amato, even our fabric has passed the very hard selection of the Observatory and today it is in final for the Compasso d’Oro in the business research category.

The innovation and sustainability of our product created from the by-products of the citrus processing industry and enriched with citrus essential oils thanks to a special fixing process obtained from the implementation of the most advanced nanotechnologies are rewarded.

The study of new materials and sustainable technologies for textiles – conducted by Adriana at AFOL Moda in Milan – together with the technical research carried out in collaboration with the materials chemistry laboratory of the Milan Polytechnic and the branding and visual processing by Omar Amato, have created a unique and quality product, capable of combining ethics and aesthetics.

It is a very important milestone for us and for our product and it still does not seem true to us to be part of the shortlist, in the year that sees Sicilian creativity triumph.

In this edition, in fact, there are 12 projects made in Sicily that will bring the excellence and talent of our land to the final and will give the deserved prominence to the splendid work of ADI Sicilia and Gianni Di Matteo, who we would also like to personally thank. for the support and affection shown.

Together with the other selected products, we will be on display until 25 October at the Greenhouse of the Botanical Garden, Largo Cristina di Sweden 24, Rome.

The Compasso d’Oro is a real institution, the most coveted award for designers from all over the world who eagerly await the publication of the selected projects every year.

The selection is curated by the Permanent Design Observatory, made up of a commission of about 200 experts, designers, critics, historians, specialized journalists and members of ADI, which is responsible for collecting, evaluating and selecting the best products of Italian design. to be proposed for the exhibition and publication of the prestigious volume ADI Design Index.

Collected in the 2015 edition, 150 Italian products made in the last year in every product sector – from furniture to cars, from building components to books – have been chosen to apply for the next Compasso d’Oro, selected among the 758 submitted.

To these are added 23 projects by students of Italian design schools who compete in a special sector, the Targa Giovani, and which constitute the best examples of how future designers are trained in Italy.

Established in 1954, the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award is in fact the oldest but above all the most authoritative world design award.

Born from an idea of Giò Ponti, it was organized for years by the Rinascente department stores, with the aim of highlighting the value and quality of the products of Italian design then in its infancy.

In 1958, the newly formed ADI, Association for Industrial Design, which, since 1964, has continued to manage and organize the “Compasso d’Oro” independently, was supported in organizing the award, ensuring its impartiality and integrity.

The nearly three hundred projects awarded in over fifty years of the award’s life, together with the nearly two thousand selected with the Honorable Mention, are collected and kept in the Historical Collection of the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award, whose management has been entrusted to the Foundation ADI, established for this purpose in 2001.

On April 22, 2004, with an unprecedented initiative in the field of international design, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage – Regional Superintendence for Lombardy declared the Historical Collection of the Compasso d ‘Award “of exceptional artistic and historical interest”. ADI gold, including it in the national heritage.
